A new collaboration between the Ferragamo Foundation and the Foundation SOS School of Sustainability, working toward a future in sustainable design
November 2021
The retail world is undergoing a deep transformation, in large part due to the digitalization of processes, the shift in purchase methods, and the and the diversification of users. Lengthy store closures due to COVID 18 restrictions merely accelerated trends that were already underway and those companies that had already undertaken the path to digitalization were the first to face these new challenges through the ever-growing diversification of their costumer experience. New challenges which must be seen within a contact of sustainable development, an approach that has always been characteristic of Maison Salvatore Ferragamo.
With this goal in mind Fondazione Ferragamo is funding a scholarship for young professionals enrolled in the SOS School of Sustainability Master’s Program in Sustainable Design to develop a research projects on sustainable retail, within the understanding that the added value to the purchasing experience is tied to the circularity of the model that inspires the design of the venues.
SOS School of Sustainability, founded in Bologna in 2015 by Mario Cucinella and now established as a Foundation in Milan, trains young professionals in the field of sustainable design, of growing interest within the retail world. Out of this common ground the collaboration with Fondazione Ferragamo is born, whose mission is research for new ideas and solutions for face the challenges of the future.
The outcome of the research project, which will take off in early 2022, will be made available in May during a public event to be held at the Fondazione SOS School of Sustainability headquarters.
