    Program Structure
    The SOS First Level Professional Master’s Degree in Sustainable Architecture and Design is a blended program (online through Uninettuno e-learning platform + 4 months of project work on campus) and consists of two phases which exemplify our philosophy of bringing theory and practice together.
    Foundation Courses
    The first phase of the academic year is held online on UNINETTUNO's e-learning platform and runs from mid-September to mid-March (first intake) or from January to July (second intake) and features our Foundations Courses. Five courses that tackle the most effective and innovative sustainability practices within the building sector, designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills required to address the challenges of the future with an open-minded, holistic, research-driven, human-centered approach.

    Each course spans a total amount of 24 hours, distributed between 3 hours of pre-recorded lectures and 21 hours conducted interactively through live sessions online on the Uninettuno e-learning platform. The Foundation Courses schedule includes approximately 4 hours of face-to-face lectures each week. In addition to these lectures, students are required to engage in group or individual project work, complete assignments, and tutorials, and undertake research for an in-depth study of the topics covered in class.

    Project Tracks
    The second phase of the academic year will be held on campus within the SOS and MCA Headquarters in Milan and is dedicated to our Project Track work. It runs for four months, from mid-March to mid-July (first intake) or from September to mid-December (second Intake), during which time students have the possibility of tackling new and diverse challenges related to sustainability implementing our innovative and research based SOS approach.

    Through the Project Tracks, SOS students, divided into small groups, work on real and impactful projects in close collaboration with SOS Partner Companies and Institutions experiencing the entire life cycle of a given project:

  • receiving the brief from SOS partner company
  • working through the initial phases with SOS faculty and the rest of the team to define plan of action
  • carry out research and practical work phase
  • learn to work actively and efficiently as part of a team
  • meet regularly with partner companies for progress report presentations
  • prepare presentation for final project output at the end of the academic year

  • This holistic and practice-oriented approach to the Project Track Phase will vary from year to year and from project to project adapting the content in light of the latest trends and developments according to the vision and mission of our program within the following macrocategories:

    Is this the right program for me?
    At SOS School of Sustainability we welcome applications from all over the world. We are looking for recent graduates and emerging professionals with diverse backgrounds to form a multidisciplinary group capable of undertaking environmental challenges using a research-driven creative approach. The program is catered to architects, engineers and designers although the School also invites candidates with other profiles, on the basis of their motivation and skills in relation to the issues proposed in the courses, to submit their application for consideration! The criteria for acceptance are talent and motivation, along with the commitment and the ambition to contribute to the spreading of the culture of sustainability. Holding a bachelor's degree is a necessary requirement. If you are passionate about Sustainability and looking to expand your horizons SOS is the answer!
    Application Process
    All SOS students are required to submit an application form with the following documents: -Curriculum Vitae -Design Portfolio -Motivational Letter -Bachelor's Degree Diploma or Diploma Supplement or Formal Letter of Current Studies with expected graduation date (for undergaduates) -Offical transcript of exams After having completed their application, qualified candidates will be contacted for an aptitude interview. The criteria for acceptance are academic/professional experience and motivation. As the SOS Master’s Program is fully English taught, students are required to have a minimum of a B2.1 Level. Students holding a valid English Language Certification can submit it during the application process, students without a valid certification need not worry! The aptitude interview with the SOS Admissions Staff can also serve as an evaluation of proficiency.

    Tuition Fees
    The total tuition fees for the 2024-2025 Academic Year Master’s Program is 14.000€.

    The tuition fee must be paid in the following installments:

    • 3.000€ – Registration fee – within two weeks of receiving the acceptance offer for the 2024/2025 Academic Year

    • 6.000€ – First installment – September 30th, 2024 (first intake) | January 30th, 2025 (second intake)

    • 5.000€ (or final amount due if awarded scholarship*) – Second installment – January 20th, 2025 (first intake) | May 20th, 2025 (second intake)

    *Awarded scholarships will be applied as a tuition reduction on the payment of the second installment.

    Thanks to the support of our partners, SOS will make available to qualified students merit based scholarships to partially offset program tuition fees.

    All applicants will be considered for a scholarship.
    2How do I apply for an SOS merit based scholarship?​
    All candidates, upon submitting their application, are automatically considered for a scholarship based on their application documents and the aptitude interview.
    3What are the criteria used for assigning scholarships?
    The criteria are academic excellence, professional experience and motivation.
    4When do I find out if I will be awarded an SOS merit based scholarship?
    If positively assessed, students will receive a conditional acceptance offer indicating whether they have been awarded a SOS Scholarship funding and its exact amount.
    5How much do SOS tuition reduction scholarships cover?
    SOS scholarships partially offset the program tuition fee.
