The new year brings good news to the SOS community!
“I-LOOP: URBAN MINING PLATFORM”, the start-up project by 5 former students of the SOS School, was selected by the Initiative “Scuole Collettive”, by Fondazione Innovazione Urbana in collaboration with the City of Bologna.
Scuole Collettive identified 32 projects with a social and civic impact: resources for a training and development program will be dedicated to the selected projects throughout 2021 with a process aimed to strengthen the know-how on social entrepreneurship as well as civic networks, strategies and institutional capacities.
At the end of 2020 the former SOS students who will participate in the training program, presented the project called “I-LOOP: URBAN MINING PLATFORM”, born after their experience for “Kaboom-Circular City Lab”.
The project focuses on waste as a new resource for the ethical production of artisans and designers, allowing the creation of new jobs and mutualistic realities and encouraging circular local economy chains that attract citizens to be protagonists of creation.
“I-LOOP” ’s goal is to create an e-commerce digital platform to foster community engagement towards the ecological transition and Circular Economy, supporting citizens to adopt a more sustainable and active lifestyle, entrepreneurs to welcome the circular transition and civic networks to become the supporting connective tissue of the city.
I-LOOP will be an app accessible to all citizens where they can find second-life matter and a network of subjects with an enhanced ability to innovate in the territory: the platform aims to generate an economy where common objects, components and waste can find new life without generating further impact on the environment. The project includes a map of Bologna with geolocation of offers and requests, a marketplace where you can buy and sell reused objects made by citizens, artisans, designers and design schools.
Starting from January 2021, the team behind the project “I-LOOP” will go through the training period and benefit from the connection with the relevant municipal sectors, in order to verify any other sources or tools more appropriate to the purposes of the proposed actions, also with respect to Pon Metro 14-20 Program.
