SOS ‐ School of Sustainability is the initiative of the architect Mario Cucinella focused on training new professionals in the field of sustainability, capable of meeting the challenges of the future and leading processes of transformation.
SOS ‐ School of Sustainability is a post graduate and private school based in Bologna (inside MC Architects Studio), open to creative young people and researchers, professionals and companies to develop innovative projects with a positive impact on society, the economy and the environment through research and experimentation.
The Third edtion of SOS has been very active in the past weeks. The students Alberto, Andrea, Claudia, Elena, Laura B., Laura M., Laura Z., Maria and Martina, are working on their team projects – The Reconstruction and Long-term Strategy for Camerino, Marche and The School of the Future – led by their tutors Alessio Batistella (ARCo), Andrea Rossi, Irene Giglio e Roberto Corbia.
At the end of April, the students had the opportunity to see some of the post-earthquake reconstruction sites together with MCA project coordinator Marco Dell’Agli. They visited the Social Health Center in San Felice sul Panaro, the Dance School of Reggiolo and to the Nursery School in Guastalla.
During the “Quality Shelter” workshop in May, they participated in the design process for the refurbishment of Tambakunda’s Hospital in Senegal working closely with MCA’s architects and external consultants including architects Michele Olivieri and Giulio Desiderio, arch. Marco Rizzoli (expert in hospital design), arch. Alessio Battistella (from Arcò) and arch. Tommaso Bitossi (environmental and MEP consultant from Transsolar, Germany).
Last week, the students visited Renzo Piano Building Workshop Foundation in Genoa, guided by architects Mark Carroll and Emanuele Donadel.
